New Publication Launch, Center Director's Welcome
Welcome to the first edition of our news publication, Health Equity Happenings: Local + Global Action Updates! The Center for Health Equity team is eager to share helpful information about the challenges, progress, and lessons learned along our journey to address health equity for all.
This three-times-a-year publication signals a change in our approach to sharing perspectives from individuals influenced by health equity issues. To support this, we’ve recently;
Created a new Health Equity Voices Series to showcase diverse perspectives on health equity from all walks of life including public health researchers, health service providers, community leaders, patients and families, policymakers, and funders. This storytelling initiative aims to build understanding and empathy around the public health challenge of health inequity.
Launched a Health Equity Action Hub to house a growing collection of research updates, stories, and learning resources aimed at academic health professionals, health equity advocates, and broad community audiences.

BIG PLANS FOR 2020 – CELEBRATING THE 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE CENTER!
I’m also thrilled to announce exciting plans for the next 12 months. Heading into 2020, we’ll celebrate ten years since the inception of the Center for Health Equity. Working alongside our partners, we will host several activities throughout the year including special symposia and invited speakers and will co-sponsor the United States Conference on African Diaspora Health in June.
We also plan to:
Introduce new training direction with an online course entitled, Local and Global Best Practices in Health Equity Research Methods, at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and three new massive open online courses (MOOCs) with Coursera
Continue offering our monthly Jam sessions
Disseminate key lessons learned in the field of health equity research over the past decade and early results from our current research projects
